The Paramedic Skills Tournament was developed by Dr. Italiya and Dallas Cantu as a way to bring prehospital providers into the Simulation Education Center at Shoreline.
They wanted to show what types of manikins and equipment was available for training with the local community.
They wanted to make the event fun, challenging, and educational. For the inaugural event, 4 teams competed in a relay race type of event, with multiple stations covering intubations, patient movement, medication math, and EKG interpretation.
The tournament is hosted by the CHRISTUS SPOHN Health System Clinical Simulation Education Center and by the Corpus Christi Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
